I’m Madeline Roberts, a stay-at-home mom to two precious little girls and wife to God’s most patient and gracious man.

In 2012, at 18 years old, I was diagnosed with Inattentive ADHD (The kind that looks more like daydreaming than bouncing off the walls.) After taking medication for a few months I decided that wasn’t for me and have been “managing” ADHD without medical help ever since.

In 2016 I moved from Tennessee to Utah as an evangelical Christian missionary and worship leader. To my surprise, I met my incredible husband a month in and we got married a year later. At about 2 cute kiddos in, I realized I couldn’t keep pretending like ADHD wasn’t a major hindrance to my life and marriage.

On multiple occasions before creating this system I would declare to my family “That’s it! I am going to my room and fixing my life.” and I would lock myself away, cry a little, ask God why he made me so annoyingly scattered, and then try to come up with some sort of system to get my life more in order.

I would pray to the Lord to help me just surrender my homemaking role to Him. I knew deep down that homemaking is all I wanted to do, but I felt constantly distracted by other side hobbies and business ideas that seemed more interesting.

As a true ADHDer, I have a love for learning, creating, teaching, and entrepreneurship. One day I cracked the code. I thought to myself “If the best way to get myself to stick to something long term is to make it into a business, I should make ‘fixing my life’ my business.”

That very ah-ha moment is what led me to finally create The Flourishing Mom System. Driven by my desire to not only fix my life, but to share it with others and essentially make it my whole personality… haha, I sat down week after week creating and testing systems until I eventually put it all together into TFMS.

If I hadn’t finally created this system, I am scared to know what my life would have looked like without it. Not only was my scattered brain causing outward issues like a chronically cluttered home and no dinner plan, but it was beginning to cause inward tensions in myself, my kids, and my marriage.

Because I was so overwhelmed with managing a home, I had no patience left for my kids and felt a deep sense of guilt whenever my husband would return from work to a chaotic home. Though he has always had so much grace with me and been such a help around the house, I still felt I was dropping the ball on my end as the one who chose to keep the home while he works. Because I wasn’t keeping it well. This drove me deeper into insecurity and constant burn-out, a never ending spiral that I felt stuck in.

Now I finally feel a sense of dignity in my role as a mom and homemaker. After years of drowning, I am finally flourishing. Yep, I said it.

So I give all glory to God for guiding me in creating a system for my life that has finally brought a sense of order and routine to my home. AND, how kind of Him to allow me to also fulfill my desire to create, share and teach as well.

Thanks for taking the time to read my story. If my story sounds similar to yours, I want you to know there is hope and joy in surrendering every piece of your life to Christ.

What a blessing to know He wants us to flourish!
